Evidence-based supplements similar to Clomiphene (Clomid), ranked by shared goals and clinical evidence. Compare any of them head-to-head below.
A placental glycoprotein hormone that acts as a long-acting LH analogue: it binds the LH/CG receptor on testicular Leydig cells (and ovarian theca cells) to drive sex-steroid production. Honest appraisal: it is genuinely well-established for inducing ovulation/the final-maturation 'trigger' in female fertility, for inducing spermatogenesis in men with hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, and for maintaining intratesticular testosterone and sperm production in men on testosterone therapy who want to preserve fertility. Its proven benefits are confined to the gonadal axis — it does not improve systemic longevity or healthspan, and grey-market/compounded sourcing carries real risks.
The trans-isomer of clomiphene — a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) used off-label/investigationally as a 'fertility-sparing' testosterone therapy. By blocking estrogen feedback at the hypothalamus it raises LH, FSH, and endogenous testosterone while preserving sperm production, unlike exogenous testosterone, which suppresses both. Honest appraisal: Phase-2/3 RCTs show it raises testosterone and keeps sperm counts in the normal range vs topical testosterone — but it is NOT FDA-approved (Androxal failed to gain approval) and is compounded/off-label, and there are NO long-term hard-outcome trials (cardiovascular, bone, mortality).
