Yohimbe – Forschung
Überwiegend Mechanismus / Beobachtung
11 begutachtete Studien
Was die Evidenz sagt

This review examines the multifaceted nature of yohimbine, delving into both its promising therapeutic potential and the associated risks.
Nowacka A, Śniegocka M, Śniegocki M, Ziółkowska E, Bożiłow D, Smuczyński W. · International journal of molecular sciences (2024)
Initially recognized for its purported aphrodisiac properties, yohimbine has been investigated for a wide range of applications, including sports or the treatment of erectile dysfunction and metabolic disorders.
However, toxicological concerns exist, particularly at higher doses.
Ongoing researches help to fully assess yohimbine's efficacy and safety profile and to explore strategies for enhancing its bioavailability and reducing toxicity.
The meta-analysis demonstrated that yohimbine is superior to placebo in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (odds ratio 3.85, 95% confidence interval 6.67 to 2.22). Serious adverse reactions were infrequent and reversible.
Ernst E et al. · The Journal of urology (1998)
Yohimbine significantly more effective than placebo for ED
Adverse events were mostly mild and reversible
Supports yohimbine (the isolated alkaloid) for ED specifically
Yohimbine, an α2 adrenergic receptor antagonist, is a well-validated pharmacological tool that has been widely employed in alcohol studies to evaluate noradrenergic activation.
Curley DE et al. · Neuropsychopharmacology : official publication of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (2022)
Yohimbine reliably increases noradrenergic activity and arousal
In selected cases, a range of alternative agents can be considered (fludrocortisone, pyridostigmine, yohimbine, atomoxetine, fluoxetine, ergot alkaloids, ephedrine, phenylpropanolamine, octreotide, indomethacin, ibuprofen, caffeine, methylphenidate and desmopressin), though recommendation strength is weak and quality of evidence is low.
Eschlböck S et al. · Journal of neural transmission (Vienna, Austria : 1996) (2017)
Yohimbine raises blood pressure via sympathetic activation
Relevant to both therapeutic use and adverse-effect risk
A systematic review of ED/testosterone supplement ingredients found horny goat weed among common ingredients with only limited randomized evidence (most ingredients graded C/D).
Kuchakulla M et al. · International journal of impotence research (2021)
Common ED-supplement ingredient but limited RCT support
In this systematic review we present information relating to the effectiveness and safety of the following interventions: alprostadil (intracavernosal, intraurethral, topical), cognitive behavioural therapy, ginseng, papaverine, papaverine plus phentolamine (bimix), papaverine plus phentolamine plus alprostadil (trimix), penile prostheses, phosphodiesterase inhibitors (sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil), psychosexual counselling, vacuum devices, and yohimbine.
Khera M et al. · BMJ clinical evidence (2011)
Yohimbine has modest ED efficacy
PDE5 inhibitors are first-line
Yohimbine's role is secondary

Cabergoline was the most frequently administered treatment, followed by yohimbine and bupropion. The cabergoline improved orgasm in 66% of the population and yohimbine in 55%.
