IBS Relief Stack
The strain- and symptom-matched IBS options, rather than a generic high-CFU probiotic.
Decent stack — covers your goals but has room to improve.
What's in this stack
- Peppermint Oil7/10 evidence
Enteric-coated peppermint oil is one of the better-evidenced botanicals in gastroenterology — multiple meta-analyses of randomized trials show it relieves global symptoms and abdominal pain in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), with smaller but consistent signals for functional dyspepsia (combined with caraway oil). It is an antispasmodic, not a cure.
Typical dose: 180-225mg enteric-coated peppermint oil, 2-3 times daily before meals
- B. infantis 356245/10 evidence
The probiotic strain behind Align, and the one most often called 'the evidence-based one' for IBS. The reality is thinner: four single-strain trials, two of them null, sharing overlapping authorship — and the large positive dose-ranging trial enrolled women only. The dose-response is genuinely inconsistent rather than a clean 'less is more'.
Typical dose: 1 x 10^8 CFU (100 million) daily — the dose that won the only head-to-head dose comparison; 1 x 10^10 CFU also beat placebo in a separate trial, so higher doses are not ruled out
- Psyllium Husk8.5/10 evidence
Gel-forming soluble fiber that lowers LDL cholesterol, regulates blood sugar, and promotes digestive regularity.
Typical dose: 5-10g daily
