Trazodone is a serotonin antagonist and reuptake inhibitor; 5-HTP is a direct serotonin precursor. Combining them raises serotonergic load by two independent routes.
What to do: Do not combine without a prescriber directing it. If you take trazodone for sleep or depression, treat 5-HTP as contraindicated rather than complementary.
